Grazia Cereghetti is a research scientist at the University of Geneva. She obtained her doctorate in biochemistry and biophysics from the ETH Zurich (the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) working on prion diseases. In 2008 she moved to Geneva to join the laboratory headed by Dr. Luca Scorrano. The main interest of that lab is to investigate the function and the regulation of mitochondria-shaping proteins. Dr. Cereghetti integrated genetics, advanced imaging, biochemistry, physiology and electron microscopy to unravel the role of these proteins in cell life and death.
Since 2010 she is a PI at the University of Geneva and her lab is involved in translational work that seeks to relate organelle morphology and function in order to define new routes for cell signaling and disease pathogenesis. In particular, her work is aimed at new approaches to neurodegenerative mechanisms.
