Neil Siegel, Ph.D. is sector vice-president & chief technology officer at Northrop Grumman. In this position, he has been responsible for the creation of many first-of-their-kind, large-scale, high-reliability systems for the U.S. Government and other customers. These systems have repeatedly been cited as model programs and important national capabilities. He also led work for the steel industry, the movie industry, and other commercial enterprises. He has a large number of inventions that have been implemented into fielded products and systems (including into commercial products by companies like Microsoft, Garman, and Apple), and holds more than 20 issued patents.
His expertise is recognized by the U.S. government, as indicated by past membership on the Defense Science Board, the Army Science Board, and other senior government advisory panels.
Dr. Siegel has a doctorate in systems engineering from the University of Southern California. His advisor there was noted computer scientist Barry Boehm. He holds positions on the engineering faculty at both the University of Southern California and the University of California at Los Angeles.
He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the IEEE, and the recipient of the Simon Ramo Medal for systems engineering, among many other awards and honors.
