Dr. Chunming Ding is the Dean at School of Laboratory Medicine and Life Sciences, Wenzhou Medical University. He obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biochemistry (1997, Fudan University; 2000, Brandeis University), and Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics (2003, Boston University). His previous academic appointments include Research Assistant Professor (2003-2005, Boston University), Assistant Professor (2005-2009, The Chinese University of Hong Kong), and Principal Investigator (2009-2015, Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences).
Chunming’s research focuses on molecular diagnostics, specifically on the clinical applications of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) present in the plasma for non-invasive prenatal diagnosis and liquid biopsies of cancer. He has authored and co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications. He is an inventor for over 100 patent applications (with 70 patents granted). His inventions have led to multiple licensing deals and commercial products.
Chunming founded Innomed, a leading biotechnology company focusing on providing cost-effective and clinically impactful DNA diagnostic tests for common genetic diseases and cancer upon his return to China in 2015.
