VISION
We have an audacious vision to create the foundation upon which unprecedented advances in health, health care, and health equity will be made.
MISSION
COLS will create a definitive biobank – a repository of biological specimens and accompanying data on mental, behavioral, and social determinants of health. This combination of specimens and community health data will facilitate a paradigm shift in disease prevention, early detection, optimized treatment, and health equity.
WHAT IS THE COLORADO LONGITUDINAL STUDY (COLS)
COLS will be one of the largest, longitudinal repositories of biological specimens and associated community health and social determinants of health data in the world. The unique aim is to provide researchers with the most robust set of biological and personalized health data so that they can attack the broadest spectrum of health challenges.
We will recruit up to one million participants in Colorado and track them for at least 10 years. Participants will donate biological specimens annually and will provide comprehensive information about their health, behaviors, mood, and environment even more frequently. Researchers will be able to study the interactions between biology, environment, and lifestyle in profound ways.
