Stephen Macknik is Laboratory Director at the Barrow Neurological Institute. He is an award winning scientist and his book, along with Dr. Susana Martizez-Conde, Sleights of Mind, is an international bestseller recognized as one of the Top 36 Books of the Year by The Evening Standard. He was trained in neurobiology at Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Nobel Laureate David Hubel. His research seeks to understand the neural underpinnings of visual awareness and attention, the role of eye movements, illusion, and magic in perception and neurological disease, and the neural consequences of healthy and abnormal cerebral blood flow in the brain.
